Strawberry Agua Fresca (Printer-friendly)

A chilled blend of fresh strawberries, lime, and a touch of sugar, strained and served over ice with mint.

# What You Need:

→ Fruit

01 - 2 cups fresh strawberries, hulled and halved

→ Citrus

02 - 1/3 cup freshly squeezed lime juice (about 2–3 limes)

→ Sweetener

03 - 1/4 cup granulated sugar (adjust to taste)

→ Liquid

04 - 3 cups cold water

→ Garnish (optional)

05 - Lime slices
06 - Fresh mint leaves
07 - Extra strawberries, sliced

# Steps:

01 - Place the strawberries, lime juice, sugar, and 1 cup of cold water into a blender and process until completely smooth.
02 - Pour the purée through a fine-mesh strainer into a large pitcher, using the back of a spoon to press and extract as much liquid as possible; discard the solids.
03 - Add the remaining 2 cups of cold water to the pitcher and stir until evenly combined.
04 - Taste and modify sweetness or acidity by adding more sugar or lime juice to balance the flavor.
05 - Refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to meld flavors, or serve immediately over ice for a faster option.
06 - Ladle into glasses and garnish with lime slices, mint leaves, or sliced strawberries as desired.

# Top Tips:

01 -
  • You can tweak the sweetness or tartness until it’s exactly the way you like it.
  • It turns the humble strawberry into an instant party, no occasion needed.
02 -
  • I once skipped the straining step and ended up with a grainy drink—don’t be tempted, the smooth texture is worth it.
  • Switching out sugar for agave made everything taste more floral and rounded, so now I reach for whichever sweetener matches my mood.
03 -
  • If your berries aren’t at their peak, adding an extra squeeze of lime or a few more mint leaves brightens everything up.
  • Chilling your pitcher ahead of time means every glass pours perfectly cold and never watered-down.
